2015 Secondary Schools Basic Fire Fighting Cadet Course

A group of Year 10 students have successfully graduated from the Secondary Schools Basic Firefighting Cadet Course. This course was delivered by the Winmalee RFS branch over the last 10 weeks at our college. An official ceremony was held last Wednesday in which our students, their parents and dignitaries such as David Jones - Blue Mountains District RFS Manager, Deputy Mayor - Chris Van Der Kley, Councillor Mick Fell and Ms Roza Sage MP. The BM Gazette photographer also came out to watch the presentation on the Grotto with parents and our College Leadership team. In this course our students have gained skills in basic fire behavior, basic firefighting, techniques – including use of fire extinguishers, familiarisation with equipment and vehicles, home fire safety, emergency communication procedures, co ordination with other emergency service agencies, teamwork and crew procedures, fire ground and occupational safety, casualty assistance and RFS processes and procedures. The following students have received an RFS certificate and we are very proud of them.
